Because you can get more skills in free roam. A LOT more. The song would be pointless during a race. A little tip, during a race, keep your radio on. Once the race is over, a skill song will be guaranteed to play. Then just go drive in the highway the wrong way and skill combos will rain on you. #3.

You can only switch stations, not songs. However, I pretty much resorted to using my own playlist with background play because FH5’s soundtrack (at least for rock music) is EASILY the worst of the series IMO.I mean, half the songs on XS are more pop than rock lmao.
1 was the BEST. Growing up on classic rock, FH1 introduced 10 yo me to modern music I loved for the first time! Really kinda shaped my music tastes to this day, the alternative/indie rock from Horizon Pulse (Alix Wilton Regan is a great person and she was the DJ on Pulse, I was sad when she never returned in the subsequent games) and the rock station.
Originally made as a playlist we made to improve our personal experience playing Horizon 5, this mod completely overhauls the soundtrack of the game. The idea is to echo the original "inspired by Coachella/Tomorrowland" music festival vibe established by Horizon 1 and 2, improving from what we think is a really subpar vanilla tracklist. Award.
